火天
ヒンドゥー教のアグニが元となっている神様で、仏教に帰依するとその存在は、煩悩を焼き尽くす神とされるようになります。さらに護法の神として八方天や十二天の一尊として、南東を守護を担当されています。
ヒンドゥー教では世の中にある現実の炎の他、体内や心の中の炎にも宿る神様として、生き物が消化することも火天の役割と考え、これが食べ物を栄養として全身に行き渡らせ、更に生き物を健康にして、子孫繁栄や古代は財産として考えられた家畜の増産にも寄与するありがたい神様だとされていたようです。
